Smells Like Victory
Time for an update on what I’m up to me thinks… Lot’s of doom and gloom about because of the release of Guild Wars 2. Can’t say it’s affected me much. I’m enjoying my time in WAR as much as I always have done. Most of my time lately has been playing my Slayer. It’s such a fun class, and effective too. Since I reached lvl40 I’ve been mainly tearing up lower bracket scenarios. Either solo or with guildies. Lots of fun. I’m almost rr61 (I think) which means I’m running around in full Warlord gear. Cutting through squishies like butter is a blast. Really looking forward to the journey to rr70 and then entering tier 4 “proper”. Hoping in the meantime to get some ToVL parties together to pick up my jewellry set.
I recently dusted off my Engi too. I respecced immediately and finally abandoned the Rifleman spec, focusing on corporeal damage and AOE. In my first scenario I managed over 350k damage, which I was very pleased with. Napalm is back! Made me think of this scene from Apocalypse Now. I’m very close to rr80 on this char (rr78.5 I think) so I will probably push through in the coming weeks. As my spec is basically “glass cannon” it’s not a char I’m going to be doing much solo work with, so progress might be slow. All good fun though.
Time on my IB is still limited as I’m not in any rush whatsoever to reach rr100. I mainly use him for roaming parties/warbands in tier 4 with our alliance colleagues. Ory (INQUISITORS) is the main man in our alliance when it comes to warbands. He’s a great warband leader, successful too. His tenacity and tactics remind me a lot of Grezko, which is a good compliment in my book. He took us to IC recently, which was the first time I’d visited the god forsaken place since returning to the game in June. We had some decent fights but eventually beat dessie into submission.
My Runepriest is currently gathering dust in tier 3. It’s nice to have a character/option there, so I’m in no rush to level him. I’ve been getting the urge to give him some time recently, so there may be some progress there in the coming weeks.
Keaven released some details of the next WAR patch on the dev discussion thread. Right now, it’s unclear whether these are definitive notes or a draft. They/he are focusing on the CC (standardisation) aspect of class balance in this patch. Reduction on the Chosen stagger will be nice, but the lower cooldown for Witch Elves’ knockdown is a concern. I’m happy to see how it plays out. I ought to issue a warning before reading the dev discussion thread. The people who post replies are more or less entirely made up of trolls and/or the most negative whining people on the internet. Not for the faint-hearted. Still, it’s good to know that there actually will be a patch 1.4.7! :D
Reading-wise, I’ve taken a break from the Horus Heresy. Which wasn’t easy, as I’ve been solidly enjoying it. I just finished book 10, Tales of Heresy. This novel is a series of random short stories. Highlights for me where the first story about the Custodes (with a cameo from my favourite Primarch Rogal Dorn) and the final story about the Warhounds/World Eaters finding their Primarch, Angron. Reason for the HH break is so I can indulge myself in some dwarf tales. I’m about 3/4 through Grudgebearer and planning to read Oathbearer straight afterwards. So much fun.
Forza Dawi!
